Boston Preservation Alliance is established.

An informal association of 25 existing preservation organizations, it is an outgrowth of the City Conservation League’s unsuccessful effort to save the Jordan Marsh block from demolition in 1975. After being located at a number of places, the alliance moves to its current headquarters in Old City Hall in 1984. It establishes an annual preservation awards in 1988.
